It has been a few days since they were in range to create a new chapter in this blog, but now there’s connectivity and a bit of time to post a new one.

Since the last entry, they spent time in Anchorage, Portage Valley and Whittier. They hiked in Anchorage’s Kincaid Park, saw moose, spent a night in wonderful Williwaw Campground in Portage Valley, traveled through the (one-way!) Whittier Tunnel, went on their first sea cruise (but it was too cloudy to see much), and then traveled south to Seward.
The featured image of the otter having dinner was taken off the harbor dock in Seward, a city they will always remember as “rainy” because it poured from the moment they arrived until the morning they left… and that was the moment when the sun came out and exposed the surrounding mountains. They had no idea they had been camping at the base of a glacier that whole time!
During their days in Seward, they went out on a second cruise boat and saw puffins, harbor seals, sea lions, otters and a couple of humpback whales. They had dinner at a lovely restaurant on the Seward harbor called Chinook’s and hiked to the Exit Glacier (that picture is of Cliff and Mary in front of Exit Glacier).
This image was taken somewhere between Seward and Homer:
