When the four wheeled in to the isolated town of Valdez, the road and surrounding areas were completely socked in, resulting in extremely limited visibility. Once in a great while, the clouds would shift to reveal snow patches on high craggy peaks, but overall it was an incredibly foggy area.
The second day of the five spent there was the only one with sunshine so they made the most of it by hiking, exploring local glaciers and lakes, and marveling at the thousands of salmon and sea gulls at the hatchery.
This turned out to be a fine place to do laundry, catch up on sleep, complete minor repairs, and take advantage of strong wifi connections.
