The British Columbia adventures for Cliff and Mary began at the border crossing into Canada. They honestly disclosed that they had no firearms, ammunition or tobacco, but that there was in the trailer bear spray, apples and wine.
They didn’t seem to be too concerned about the alcohol or bear spray but something piqued the interest of the border officer and they were told to pull over, take their passports and the form that the officer gave them into the border office and follow the instructions of the officer inside. Once inside, two officers took their keys to the truck and trailer and did an inspection of each.
It didn’t take long – the officers returned and said they were free to go! Nothing handed over, nothing of concern. One doesn’t ask – one just welcomes the opportunity to leave… and does.
North on the 15, a long journey on the 1 through Hope and Cache Creek, then up the 97 to 100 Mile House (yes, that’s the name of the city) to the only RV park in town. It was a long journey for them, especially for Cliff who was driving, but they arrived around 7:15pm and had time to do a bit of exploring out by Exeter Lake.
The next day was more exploring… at the recommendation of the Visitor Centre staff, Canim Falls and Deception Falls, both incredibly beautiful. Lunch was at Mahood Lake. They marveled at the cloud formations – and a double rainbow – all day. Incredible.
